The Saugatuck Douglas Police Department serves both the City of Saugatuck and City of Douglas, 24-hours a day. During the summer months, the population of the area swells to an estimated 8,000 – 10,000. Criminal incidence is relatively low with crime prevention being the Department’s primary objection. Patrol activities command the most time and attention.

Police Chief Steve Kent

Chief Steve Kent has served on the Saugatuck-Douglas Police force for over thirty years. He is a lifelong resident of Allegan County, a graduate of Kalamazoo Regional Police Academy, and former DARE Program Instructor. Steve, with his wife Lisa, have three children and have recently celebrated the birth of their first grandchild.
